Meet your instructor, Jeff Malanca, a.k.a. "Surf Junkie Jeff". Jeff is an Orange County native and has been surfing its beaches for over 35 years. If nearly 40 years of surfing experience. Jeff gets in the ocean 365 days a year -- rain or shine. His friends call him the "Surf Junkie," not only because he's at the beach before you, or he's in the ocean before you, but you guessed it, he's there every day. Jeff is well trained in first-aid and CPR. He is also very familiar with our beaches, where hazards lie, and how each break is affected by current conditions. You see, as a broadcast journalist, having that knowledge plays an important role in his day job.

LEARN TO SURF OC TO LA

I teach at Orange and LA Counties' safest spots where there are no rocks making it much safer to get in and out of the water. Each lesson starts on the sand, I'll discuss safety, equipment, and how to properly stand up on a surfboard. I then take the students to the water where we practice how to paddle, sit on the board and stand up. The only prerequisite is that every student must be a proficient swimmer. All equipment is included in the lesson. I use state-of-the-art soft top surfboards which are very safe and made up of the same material as a boogie board. I also provide full-length wetsuits to keep you nice and warm throughout your lesson.
